A two-alarm fire gutted an historic building at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the building, which was undergoing construction, just before 3 p.m, according to a statement from the Minneapolis Fire Department.
Crews encountered heavy fire from the third floor and of the building and set up for a defensive attack.
Fire officials said heavy winds fanned the blaze and called for a second alarm.
An aerial master stream was set up to battle the fire conditions where access was limited due to construction materials.
Two firefighters suffered burns from hot tar that was blown from the roof.
